SWEDISH RALLY - DAY 2

Sergio López-Fombona has fought his way into the top ten. Sergio and Guifré (Mitsubishi No 49), are having a mistake-free race and they still have an unshakable desire to learn and keep progressing. Today the rally has been quite similar to yesterday ...but the times set were far better!

Fombona surprised himself by achieving an excellent 9th place on the second stage of the day, ahead even of his team mate Pons.
Over the next four stages, Pons increased his pace to score a 6th, two 8ths and a 9th, while Fombona was also within the top ten in spite of spinning at the 8th stage.
Finally, at the long Vargasen stage (40 kms), Pons was 8th, (with a similar overall placing) and Fombona was 12th and 10th overall.

   IN SERGIO'S VIEW

"To be honest we were thinking about loosing something like 5 seconds per kilometre against the top PWRC drivers but, to our surprise, at most stages the difference is much smaller, in fact we are only 1.5 seconds per kilometre off the pace on some stages.
We are going from less to more, without taking big risks, testing the car's reactions, and that way we are both learning and having a lot of fun. We are enjoying it so much that I was talking with Guifre about how good it will be to have a Swedish Rally ...every month!"
