MEXICAN RALLY - SERGIO FOMBONA RETIRES

Sergio López-Fombona has been forced to quit the race because of the heavy damage suffered during his off on the last special stage of the day.

Althought Fombona and his co-driver, Guifré Pujol, tried all they could to reach the end of leg service park, they arrived with a huge delay and received a 28 minute penalty which resulted in their exclusion from the rally.

A sudden downpour caused the road to become very slipery, catching the Asturian driver by surprise: "It was sliding so much that it felt like driving on ice!" said the astonished driver from Gijón.
