TOUR DE CORSE - DAY 2

An unlucky day for Sergio López-Fombona and Guifré Pujol on the Rally of France - Tour de Corse, the sixth event counting towards the PWRC. The Asturian driver finished the second leg of the French rally in tenth position at the wheel of his Mitsubishi Evo VIII prepared by Calm Competición, a place that doesn't reflect the big commitment the driver from Gijón is showing during the whole rally.

The RACC driver started the day still aiming to achieve a points scoring position even after all the problems he suffered yesterday. Sadly in the first stage, Fombona suffered three punctures loosing something like 7 minutes.

Despite this the Asturian didn't lost his focus and showed his continued mastery of the Corsican tarmac in the second stage, scoring the fifth best time with a car that was finally going perfectly. However during the remaining two stages Fombona suffered more problems (two more punctures) and couldn't finish better than tenth in the PWRC standings.

"It's a shame! To begin with we had a puncture in the right front tyre but later we discovered that also the rear wheel was loosing air. Afterwards, in the difficult conditions we were facing, we spun at a left hand corner and punctured the rear left. The loss of time has been huge and the points zone is too far away now so the target is just to finish the rally."
