RALLY OF ARGENTINA - 3rd LEG

Asturian driver, Sergio López-Fombona and co-driver Guifré Pujol at the wheel of their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII, allowed the RACC-Repsol-Mitsubishi team to score points for fourth time in a row in the difficult PWRC category after finishing 6th overall in the difficult Rally of Argentina, fourth round of the series.

If Fombona had already surprised everybody with his 8th place in the opening round, the Swedish Rally, today he has improved on that tally, whilst gaining very valuable experience towards his sporting future. This great result, simply unthinkable after the first stages, when after suffering some problems, he was outside the top ten, rewards the effort of both driver and team after loosing Xevi Pons on the first day, victim of water affecting the engine of his Lancer at a river crossing.

The Calm team changed, for this leg, most of the suspension components on Sergio's car and that allowed the driver to perform very well during the whole day.

   IN SERGIO'S VIEW

"My target this morning was to recover the little time I was behind the Bulgarian Georgi Geradzhiez, something I managed to do. Then the Galli retirement allowed me to recover yet another place which is fantastic for our aspirations. We have been getting on the pace little by little and I'm particularly happy with my performance when the race was at its most difficult. This sixth place fulfills my ambitions for this rally."
