After
a long, hard first leg, Sergio López-Fombona remains as
the only runner in the TACC-Repsol colours in South America.
Problems afflicted both RACC-Repsol-Mitsubishis during the first
leg of the Rally Argentina, the fourth round of the PWRC. The
spectacular river crossings, so famous all over the world because
the spectacular images of the cars going through them, has been
fatal for the Xevi Pons-Oriol Juliá Mitsubishi Lancer EVO
VII. The car was excluded after being penalised for exceeding
the time allowed to complete the stage although it has been allowed
to remain running because of the new SupeRally regulations.
The Sergio López-Fombona-Guifré Pujol Mitsubishi
Lancer Evo VII has also suffered problems, having having been
delayed because of a loose fuel pipe at the start of the third
stage leading to a loss of four minutes. Then yet more time was
lost during the ninth stage due to water entering the engine resulting
in Sergio and Guifré holding 11th position in the PWRC.
Without any more dramas the pair went well with a best result
of 5th on stage 10 time and with high hopes of improving their
position over the remaining legs.
